ROH -- 06/28/92 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2012~XXX <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES <br />COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DENYING A <br />CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS FOR THE <br />HISTORIC EXTERIOR MODIFICATION APPLICATION <br />FOR THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 214 EAST SANTA <br />CLARA AVENUE (HISTORIC EXTERIOR MODIFICATION <br />APPLICATION NO. 2010-03} <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS; <br />Section 1. The Historic Resources Commission of the City of Santa Ana <br />hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: <br />A. The applicant is requesting approval of Historic Exterior Modification <br />Application No 2010-03 for awrap-around porch on the north front elevation <br />and west side elevation; French doors and balcony on the west side <br />elevation, and, attic dormers on the north and west elevations, for the <br />property located at 214 East Santa Clara Avenue, historically known as <br />the McGowan House. <br />B. The property was built circa 1886, and was placed on the Santa Ana <br />Register of Historical Properties as a Landmark in 2004. The property is <br />also eligible to be listed on the California Register of Historical Resources <br />as determined in 2004 by a qualified architectural historian, and is noted in <br />the Department of Parks and Recreation form record (DPR}. <br />C. The McGowan House was designated as historic as one of the oldest, if not <br />the oldest farmhouses in the Park Santiago Neighborhood. It is also <br />architecturally notable as an example of a two-story farmhouse that reflects <br />the Colonial Revival style remodel from the early twentieth century. . <br />D. Pursuant to Santa Ana Municipal Code section 30-6, the Historic <br />Resources Commission held a duly noticed public hearing on June 28, <br />2012, for the request for exterior modifications of the historic McGowan <br />House. (Historic Exterior Modification Application No. 2010-03}. <br />E. Since the property is listed on the Santa Ana Register of Historical <br />Properties, all exterior modifications or alterations are required to meet the <br />Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation. <br />The following Secretary of the Interior's Standards are applicable: <br />2, 3, 4, b, and 9. <br />Resolution No. 2092-XXX <br />Page 9 of 4 <br />
