Employee Group Insurance Renewals <br />September 3, 2013 <br />Page 3 <br />CalPERS Health Program <br />The CalPERS basic HMO health plans will increase by 3.8% and the basic PPO health plans will <br />increase by 2.5 %. The lower increase in rates are the result of successful negotiations with <br />existing and new health plan providers that incorporated CalPERS health initiatives to provide <br />quality health care to participants at the lowest possible cost. The City will incur a 7.84% increase <br />in costs for all bargaining units that are tied to the Kaiser rate for the City contribution. As the City <br />is currently in negotiations with SEIU and POA, the fiscal impact is based on the current 2013 <br />contribution rates.
