POSITION/TITLE: Operations Manager (Cont.) <br /> WORK EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: <br /> • The incumbent must have a thorough knowledge in the operations and usage of <br /> the various types of refuse collection vehicles and equipment. <br /> • Must understand the principles of the truck routing to insure efficient, economic <br /> collection, transportation and disposal. <br /> • Must be able to establish routine procedures and assignment of tasks with a <br /> measure of independence. <br /> • Must have knowledge of the California State Vehicle Code and the Federal Motor <br /> Carrier Safety Regulations as they apply to the operation of trucks on public <br /> thoroughfares. <br /> • Must be capable, from an operational standpoint, of detecting faulty operation of <br /> equipment. <br /> • Knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn: Street names, location and City/county <br /> geography, waste disposal departments regulations. <br /> • Ability to interact well with office staff, general public and government agencies. <br /> • Graduate from High School, including or supplemented by planning or operational <br /> training, or any equivalent combination of experience and training. <br /> • Minimum of three years experience in the solid waste industry, including one year <br /> in a supervisory capaCity. <br />
